Painting is a daily activity for me - coaxing paint from tubes, mixing them into littles heaps of colour is a pleasure and a compulsion. In particular I am attracted to the warm dry colours of our landscapes. I painted at Lanyon in winter when the light and the colours were cool and subdued. The atmosphere was still, and it was so peaceful without even the lightest breeze most of the time. The white buildings provided a useful focal point for the paddock scenes, against the pale hills. And, the warm afternoon light gave opportunities to capture reflected light off the mud buildings. Sometimes between the clouds the sun would appear bathing the fields in gold.
I have shown my work in over 10 group exhibitions and been the recipient of several prizes since 2016 including: Art Society of Canberra (ASOC) Spring Exhibition 2019, Second and Third prize oils; Molonglo Conservation Group - Queanbeyan Art Society 2019, First Prize oils; QPRC Members Competion, First prize, Queanbeyan Art Society Best in Show ; Queanbeyan Art Society 2018 Second Prize; ASOC, Best in Show oils 2018; ASOC: Spring Exhibition 2016.
